RealityTVNews: Gilbert Arenas Tries To Stop Ex-Fiancé From Appearing On Basketball Wives of L.A… June 28, 2011

Gilbert Arenas & Laura Govan…

Since his ex-finance is no longer in a relationship with him, Gilbert Arenas feels that Laura Govan has no reason to be a part of the Basketball Wives cast. Arenas wants the courts to prevent his ex-fiancé from going onto the Basketball Wives: L.A. show, because he fears that she might try to exploit him.

Even though his name is never mentioned on the show, Arenas believes that by Govan appearing on the reality show, people will know who she is talking about when she mentions her “anonymous ex.”  Arenas is the father of Govan’s four children.

Arenas has been in major battles with Govan over child support.  Govan even had Arenas served child support papers during a basketball game.  At the time, Gilbert claims he was paying Govan $20,000 per month, while she claimed that she needed $100,000 per month to get by.

I mean dang Arenas, maybe the girl just needs some extra cash since she is the mother of your four children. Cut her some slack, geesh!

DevastatingNews: Former NC State & NCAA Player Killed In Bus Crash…

R.I.P. Lorenzo Charles…

This past Monday, 47-year-old Lorenzo Charles died in a tour bus accident in Raleigh, NC. According to the associated press, Charles was driving an Elite Coach bus on Interstate 40 when the accident occurred. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Charles was responsible for one of the most stunning comeback wins in NCAA championship history.  In 1983, his team was a significant underdog to powerhouse Houston, and Charles hit the game-winning dunk after a teammate shot an air ball.

“It’s just an awful day,” said Derrick Whittenburg, the man who took the shot that Charles eventually dunked. “An awful, awful day.”

Charles didn’t do so well in the NBA.  He played a few years for the Atlanta Hawks, and like many former NCAA athletes, ended up doing menial work in order to make a living.  He’d become a bus driver for several companies in the North Carolina area.

“It’s still kind of amazing to me that … people are still talking about it,” Charles said to gopack.com. “I remember when [it] first happened, I figured I would have my 15 minutes of fame and that would be it. Here we are and it is still a conversational piece. I don’t really think that was the only great Final Four finish that has been played since then, but for some reason people just single out that game and talk about it. Maybe because it was such a David and Goliath thing.”

Charles played for North Carolina State during college, and briefly for the Atlanta Hawks before going overseas to play basketball in Europe.

The prayers of Your Black World go out to the family, friends, and loved ones of Lorenzo.

Tom Emma, 49…

Back in 1983 Tom Emma dominated the basketball court, representing the Duke Blue Devils as the basketball team captain… No one would have thought that his life would end at the age of 49.

Just this Tuesday at around 11:30 a.m. Emma jumped from the New York Athletic Club building in Midtown on 180 Central Park South.

Emma did not leave a suicide note and his death was a shock to all people that knew him, family members and friends.

Former team mate of Emma and coach of Stanford University basketball team, stated that he couldn’t believe the news when he heard. He also went on to say that Emma was a great guy and he has no clue as to why Emma would want to harm himself.

Emma was the president of Power Performance Inc. which was an organization that was dedicated to training and helping young athletes.

Your Black World sends prayers out to the family of Tom Emma… R.I.P.

Ryan Royall, 17…

As an amazing student and standout basketball player at Hillcrest High School, Ryan Royall hoped that his love for basketball would one day help him to be able to get a scholarship to go off to college… But all of his dreams of going to college and making a better life for himself and his family were shattered on June 5th at approximately 12:30 a.m.

Royall was leaving a birthday party at Ho-Chunk Sports and Expo Center in south suburban Lynwood with his friend, Olajuwan Harris on that Sunday night. As they headed to their car they heard a disturbance in another parking lot and right after that gun shots rang out. Both of the boys hit the ground.

“I can’t believe Ryan is gone,” said Harris, 17. “He was a big part of my life. We were together all the time.”

The Hillcrest basketball team will dearly miss Royall, as they were supposed to play in the championship on Monday… After Royall had gotten them there.

This is another life cut short… No, he wasn’t in a gang, he wasn’t dealing drugs, he wasn’t a bully, he was just an all around good kid. He loved basketball, his family and his friends yet his is still another life that has been lost to violence…

NBA Super Star, Ron Artest…

This memorial weekend, Ron Artest was at a night club in Los Angeles. As he was leaving to go to his car Artest saw a man and a woman throwing punches at one another while they stood right next to him. After some bobbing and weaving, Artest was able to break up the fight, and no one was seriously harmed.

The fight started because the man and woman were both way too intoxicated and unfortunately people don’t think as clearly as they would if they were sober.

Good Job Ron!!! You saved the day!!!!
